Quantity is Key

To qualify for bulk mail, 200 pieces of identical mail must be sent at one time. The more pieces you send in one mailing, the lower your postage. Postage also is lowered in relation to how many times someone at the post office touches your piece. According to Tondra Hughes, The Newsletter Factory president, your goal when mailing is to use the "lowest common denominator, all the way down to carrier-route sorting, if possible." Your postage rate is also lowered if you send large quantities of mail to the same ZIP Code and if your mail list is Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS)-certified, a process in which your addresses are checked for accuracy.
